Recently the main complaint I’m getting behind the chair is “Why are my ends splitting so fast?!?!”, “Why do my ends feel like crispy Gollum ends?!?!”, “My Scalp itches like a mother f***er and I don’t know what to do!”, “My color is fading so fast lately!!”, “Do I have dandruff, please tell me I don’t!! I don’t have time for that shit!! My Tinder game is just pickin’ up!!”
Everyone calm down! These things may be true, but t's just a product of our environment. We live in the Mile High City kids. We gotta do some extra work to keep healthy non-crispy hair ;)
Let’s start with the fact that Marsha Brady Wasn’t just brushing her hair a million times a day for shits and giggles. I mean she was probably bored out of her mind and borderline narcissistic- but lets face it. Those blonde princess Blonde locs don’t lie.
You see…
-Your ends are splitting due to the lack of hydration they are receiving- hence crispy ends
-The dry climate Colorado is graced with is trapping all the natural oil at your scalp
-Plus its over compensating the amount of oil it normally produces because of the dry climate
-Oily scalp= no volume & slowly turning you into the Margaret Mcboyle version of yourself (From Always Sunny)
-So you’re feeling the need to shampoo more!
-Shampooing too much can act as an astringent (SUPER FUCKING DRYING), so thats why you’re feelin’ itchy
Now look VERY closely at the brush Marsha is using…. This is commonly referred to in the Hairstyling world as a Boar Bristle Brush.
Natural Boar Bristle Brushes are generally made from some sort of animal hair, such as hog or badger.
Not into that… Don’t fret.
Synthetic Bristles are often made from nylon, polyester, or a combination of both.
Best of ALL- Some of my favorites are under $20 and you can get them at Whole Foods, Target, or order them on Amazon- or wherever kids these days are shopping….. My all time favorite is the Unite Eurotherapy Paddle Bristle brush, this brush feels so good on your scalp, I swear it’s boarder line climactic.
Here are a few good ones;
